Potatoes doing well -- up to 6" high. Building up soil around plants with any spare soil available. BOth areas still covered with fleece.
Planted dwarf beans in bottom left bed next to peas. Two rows about 6" apart. Covered with black liner until they germinate. Will need support when start to grow.
Planted rhubarb in bottom right corner, where original leeks were. Deep pit filled with compost, mulched with wood chippings.
Gave up on carrots and beetroot. Dug over M and T's areas and replanted. Removed the poly-tunnels. Noticed that original carrot seed packet was from 1996!
Moved smaller round compost bin and started to dig out the area that will be for sweetcorn.

Potatoes starting to come thru; replaced black liner by fleece.
Peas showing also, but lots of weeds.
No sign from carrots or beetroot.
A little bit of rain today but mostly dry recently.

A bit of rain this week, plus temperatures much milder.
Planted potatoes (Charlotte in large middle bed, and Vivaldi in one of the smaller middle bed).
Onions -- white, red and shallots -- next to potatoes. Transplanted some of the small leeks, dug up some of the larger ones for dinner.
Tom sowed carrots under his poly-tunnel.

Dug over the 4'x12' area in sw corner. Menured, composted and planted 4 rows of peas.
Michael helped with planting garlic, beetroot and carrots in his bit - 2'x12' in se corner. Covered with a poly-tunnel (18"x9' - £10 from Homebase).
2nd poly tunnel covering a dug-over area to "warm the ground", but no compost added yet.

Continuing to dig the plot over. Marked out various beds and dug over / compost in.
Raspberries cut-down, soil broken up and a mulch added.
Maybe 60% total area dug over now.
So far, I have added:
1 bag bone-meal (AA - £4),
8 bags of manure (Thompson's - £26),
10 bags of peat-free componst (B&Q - £20).
